The Swiss soprano Judith Duerr studied under Prof. Barbara Locher in Lucerne and Bern. She completed her performance studies with the highest marks and distinction. In March 2025, she was accepted into the Accademia Verdiana at the Teatro Regio di Parma. She is currently being coached by M° Antonella Manotti.
She has also attended the Mascagni Academy in Livorno, the Accademia del Teatro Coccia in Novara, and Erik Battaglia’s lieder class at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
In January 2026, Judith Duerr performed at Casa Verdi, built by Giuseppe Verdi, in honour of the 125th anniversary of his death. In 2025, Judith Duerr sang as a soloist during the Concerto di Gala dell’Accademia Verdiana at the Teatro Regio di Parma as part of the Festival Verdi. She also made her debut under the baton of Tiziano Severini as Giannetta (L’elisir d’amore) at the Teatro Mario del Monaco in Treviso and at the Teatro Sociale di Rovigo. In June 2025, she performed Robert Schumann’s Frauenliebe und -leben at the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino in Florence. She also performed on Italy’s national holiday in St. Gallen in the presence of the Italian Consul and the Mayor of St. Gallen.
In 2024, she gave a recital at the Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur featuring arias by Puccini, Mascagni, and Cilea. She also made her debut as La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi) at the Festival Internazionale di San Gimignano, and subsequently performed the same role at the Teatro Carlo Goldoni in Livorno. She also appeared as a soloist in a concert in honour of Giacomo Puccini at the Festival Internazionale di San Gimignano and at the Teatro Coccia in Novara.
In 2023, Judith played Luisa in La Zia di Carlo at the Teatro Coccia in Novara, amongst other roles, and took part in Omaggio a Carlo Coccia at the same theatre. In October 2022, Judith performed J. Haydn’s Scena di Berenice with the Montfort Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Christoph Eberle.
At the Werdenberg Castle Festival in 2020, Judith appeared as Frasquita in Carmen. She also made her debut as Ciboletta in A Night in Venice at the Balzers Operetta, where she had previously appeared as Kathi (The White Horse Inn) and, in 2016, as Ida (Die Fledermaus).
As a concert singer, the soprano has performed, among other works, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42, F. Schubert’s Mass in G major, the Vesperae solennes de Confessore, K. 339, and the Coronation Mass, K. 317.
As a lieder singer, Judith has performed, among other works, Schumann’s Liederkreis Op. 39 and Dichterliebe, Debussy’s Cinq poèmes de Baudelaire and Ariettes oubliées, Hugo Wolf’s Mignon Lieder, and Rachmaninoff’s 12 Romanzen Op. 14.
Judith is a prize-winner of the Elvira Lüthi-Wegmann Foundation competition, the Alten Mühle Gams Recognition Prize, and the Podiumkonzerte Liechtenstein. She is also a recipient of the City of Zurich’s Covid-19 working grant, a scholarship holder of the Thyll Foundation, and has been awarded a MAECI scholarship by the Italian government.
