The Swiss soprano Judith Duerr studied under Prof. Barbara Locher in Lucerne and Bern. She completed her performance studies with the highest marks and distinction. Master classes with Paoletta Marrocu, Luciana D’Intino, and Sandra Trattnigg complement her training.


In 2024, Judith was admitted into the Mascagni Academy of the Mascagni Festival (Teatro Goldoni) in Livorno. She also participates in the Belcanto Academy Valsugana and studies Liedgestaltung with Erik Battaglia at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
In 2022-23, she also was a member of the Academy of the Teatro Coccia in Novara.

This year, Judith performed a recital with arias by Puccini, Mascagni, and Cilea at the Opéra Nice Côte d'Azur. Judith also debuted as La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi) at the Festival Internazionale di San Gimignano and subsequently performed the same role at the Teatro Carlo Goldoni di Livorno. She was also a soloist at the Festival Internazionale di San Gimignano in a concert in honor of Giacomo Puccini.

In 2024 the soprano furthermore performed Robert Schumann's 'Liederkreis op. 39' and songs by Richard Strauss together with the pianist Milena Dolcetto at the 'Festival 3 M' in Arquà Polesine. She also gave a recital of songs from Hugo Wolf's Italian songbook at the Conservatorio di Musica 'Luigi Cherubini' in Firenze and Vinci.

In 2023, Judith played the role of Lusia in La Zia di Carlo at the Teatro Coccia di Novara and was part of "Omaggio a Carlo Coccia" at the same theatre. In October 2022, Judith sang the Scena di Berenice by J. Haydn together with the Montfort Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Christoph Eberle. In 2022, the soprano also made her debut as Ciboletta in A Night in Venice (directed by Anatol Preissler) at the Operette Balzers, where she had already appeared in 2020 as Kathi (Im Weissen Rössl) and in 2016 as Ida (Die Fledermaus). At the Werdenberg Castle Festival, Judith could be heard as Frasquita in Carmen in 2020.

She also performed the role of Idamante (Idomeneo) under the direction of Mladen Tarbuk, as well as the second lady (The Magic Flute). She appeared as Princess and Lady-in-waiting in the contemporary opera Lady Sarashina under the direction of Lennart Dohms (staged by Kami Manns) in Bellinzona. She was heard in the children's opera Le noel de Zell at the Theater Biel-Solothurn.

As a concert singer, the soprano has performed, among others, the solo parts of the G major Mass by F. Schubert, the Vesperae solennes de Confessore KV 339, and the Coronation Mass KV 317. In the Abbatiale de Bellelay, Judith sang the soprano parts of Mendelssohn's Psalm 42 and Mozart's Requiem.

Chamber music is also important to Judith Duerr, and she has performed Schumann's Dichterliebe, 12 Romances op. 14 by S. Rachmaninoff, Cinq poèmes de Baudelaire and Ariettes oubliées by C. Debussy, among other works, with the pianist Elina Akselrud and Denis Zhdanov.

Judith is a prizewinner of the Elvira Lüthi-Wegmann Foundation competition, the Alte Mühle Gams recognition prize, and the Liechtenstein Podium Concerts. In 2021, she was awarded a scholarship from the Famiglia Durante (Portogruaro). She is also a recipient of the City of Zurich COVID-19 work scholarship and a scholarship from the Thyll Foundation. Recently, Judith was awarded an MAECI scholarship from the Italian state.
